New Site Navigation
When I first joined ShopStyle one of the top priorities was to rethink the navigational structure of the site. The original navigation’s information architecture didn’t allow for scaling or proper way-finding, making the team add links without a proper categorization, product strategy, and giving the user a poor user experience. With greater understanding of how users look for and find things on the site, we were able to rethink how we should structure and categorize information properly.
Understanding the current state, and future state. We ran a card sorting exercise for users to help us not only rethink how things should be organized but how certain categories should be named based on location.
The desktop experience was the most challenging one to tackle, trying to establish the right hierarchy and most user friendly layout. Search is also an important part of the ShopStyle experience therefore understanding the impact of the search bar placement was important.
